This baking mix – NO. 2 PEPPARKAKA – will let you bake, serve and enjoy a traditional Swedish Soft Gingerbread Cake.

German immigrants brought gingerbread to Sweden in the 13th century. At first, gingerbread was mainly baked by nuns and consumed as medicine. But in the 18th century, the custom of baking gingerbread at home became widespread. Ever since then, gingerbread biscuits and soft gingerbread cakes have been popular in Sweden.

The mix is based on an old-fashioned recipe and results in a dense and moist Soft Gingerbread Cake, amply spiced with cinnamon, ginger, cloves and cardamom. It makes two cakes, approx. 16 pieces. All dry ingredients, as well as two paper moulds (non-stick), are included. Just add butter, milk and an egg.

The baking mix comes in a beautiful gift box, that can be refilled when the fika session has taken place. Inside the box is a card with a photography and a short text (in English) that describes the pastry. Instructions are in both English and Swedish.
